With school starting here are a few tips for parents to create calm, and simply Flow better

Everything we touch, can be made simpler. What does calm look like to you, start there and work backwards

1- Begin adjusting bedtime a couple of days/weeks before the start of school
2-Reading time is at same time homework time would be.
3-Get ideas from members of the family about the new routine therefore, kids will be more invested
4-Pair a habit with a chore, to layer things together to get best outcome – Ie: prep dinner signals unpack lunchbox
5- Have kids involved in helping with different things like prepping dinner too

How can we begin to declutter the home?

1-Begin with LESS in the first place
2-Minimize and reduce what comes into the house right off the bat
3-Create a family Google doc with present list, so that everyone knows what people want and need
4-Normalize not keeping toys or presents and actually repurposing them for others
5-Reduce what we ALREADY have
6-Reduce Decisions – Ie: No coloring books, just plain paper
7- Storage – Make organization simple, age appropriate and easy
8- Big Clean out of house all together once and awhile – Have fun while cleaning, so kids think it is not stressful. Don’t want them to think MESS is STRESS!

Limit the Overwhelm of Exposure to Less is More

1-Have them take pictures to put on present list
2- share little bits of fun with kids between special occasions, so makes special occasions less about presents
3-Save pics of items or toys they want on computer and have kids go back closer to time of special occasion to pick a few they still want out

Help your Children Declutter the Home of Toys

2 Ways to Limit the number of toys in their space
1. Space – Container Concept, if it doesn’t fit, don’t keep
2. By Number – allow 10 things in the space, if you want another, something has to go
