Kitchen Tools for a Healthy Dinner
5 essential kitchen tools that will help you make a quick and healthy dinner.
The biggest complaint I hear is that you don’t have enough time to make healthy meals. I understand that there is a lot going on throughout the day and it can be difficult to get dinner on the table. Therefore, I wanted to provide you with a few kitchen tools that I use in my kitchen to make dinner time a quick and healthy.
5 kitchen tools I love:
- Make sure to get a good knife so that you are able to quickly cut vegetables for your meals. I love Santoku knives because they have little oval depressions that keep the food from sticking to the knife. This is one of the most universal knives you will use in your kitchen. I recommend going to a store and holding them so that you can feel them in your hand. You want a knife that feels strong and sturdy in your hand. A good knife will cost about $100.
- Rice Cooker-I prefer using a rice cooker separately than in my InstaPot. Usually I’m making the protein in the pot and don’t want my rice to get gummy. I find that a simple rice cooker is perfect for getting dinner on the table quickly. I can put the rice in there and don’t need to watch over it. It allows me to go about making everything else, do laundry, or help kids get ready for their activities.
- Good pans-I really love my Cast Iron Pan and use it most of the time as I can go from cooktop to oven to finish things off. I also really do like the Our Place Always Pan. We use this pan for almost everything and I love it. I can’t speak to the “safety” of the non-stick, but they do claim that it doesn’t have any toxic chemicals. From what I have read it seems like it is free of chemicals but there are some reviews that state it may have some issues so if you are concerned about this please do your own research.
- Immersion blender-These are great for soups and sauces, instead of having to pour hot liquids into a blender. This is a small blender that you place directly into the pot to blend vegetables up for a creamier soup or sauce. I also found it was a great option when my kids were younger as they didn’t like chunky spaghetti sauce, but I loved adding carrots and onions to the sauce so this allowed me to smooth them out.
- Food Processor-I use this all the time for dressings, pesto’s, and quick sauces. It also can shred cheese quickly, or chop onions and vegetables quickly. This is another go-to item that I use on the regular in my house.
All of these items are about $100 or less and are great to have in your kitchen if you have the space. They help to make dinner time a bit quicker and are great for making healthy dinners. I would love to hear what your favorite kitchen equipment is to make your life easier. Feel free to leave it in the comments below or head over to our community and share.
