Calm your Child with Feng Shui

I spoke with Candice of Learn Feng Shui to speak with us about how we can calm our child in the home with the practice of Feng Shui. She discusses how we can create an open and calming energy with our furniture, how we should be placing our bed in the bedroom, and other things that may be affecting the energy in the home.

Create calm in your home

Take a look at the way your environment supports you. It should be about the energy coming into your home and the way you are receiving this energy. You want to make sure your entrance is open and airy, not blocked. Don’t fill the space with oversized furniture. Practice scaling down your decor and pay attention to the space right inside your entrance. If you have a mudroom, make sure to keep it clutter free, as clutter can stop the energy. Fengshui is all about the flow of energy in your home and we want to support this positive flow.

Furniture layout

Don’t worry too much about how the furniture is laid out in the space. Rather think about how you use the space. Your home should have a nice flow and should be designed based on how you work within it.

Ask yourself, does this work for me?

Don’t ever feel like you need to put things away that you use often for aesthetic reasons, rather if you use it every day keep it out so that it creates a positive flow for you.

Children’s Bedroom design

When it comes to your bedrooms, the most important thing to work with is the bed placement. Place your bed up against a solid wall and have it facing the door. It does not need to be directly facing door, just facing it. Windows should not be behind the bed or headboard, this can create restlessness. If you notice your child sleeping sideways on their bed, they are called to sleep this way energetically so just let them be and allow them to sleep this way.

Things we shouldn’t have in the home

Be careful with garage sales and secondhand items that you bring into the house. You don’t know what energy may be attached to these items or what the energy of the previous owner had. If it feels good, then bring it into your home but do know that items can hold energy.
