Giving back to your Community

I spoke with Faith of a local non-profit in Naples, Fl called Beverly’s Angels on giving back to your community.

Faith started this non-profit to help her heal. Her mom had been difficult and had dementia which made things far harder. She wanted to be able to give back to really heal herself. Beverly’s Angels was born from losing her mom.

At Beverly’s Angels they work to provide new things for the whole home. “Yours first” is huge for people to help them build back up. It is one thing to receive donated items, but for so many it is extra special when they can have something that is there’s and there’s alone. They feel that it is also important to be able to give the basics with love. Essentials like a brand-new towel can mean so much for those that have lost everything.

Hurricane Ian affected everyone’s lives in some way here in Southwest Florida. People who never had to ask for anything are now left needing everything. Beverly’s Angels is providing for those affected, while also dealing with loss themselves. They had just opened a Crisis Center weeks before and suffered water damage, but they remained open to help others affected. She saw how those who lost everything, that didn’t have excessive lifestyle, but could live and provide for themselves, had such a hard time asking for help and being vulnerable.

Faith was raised in a Midwestern way on the East Coast of FL with community that comes together to help each other and feels like Hurricane Ian has given this Community a sense of Community that has been missing for a while now.

Wanting to help those affected by Hurricane Ian:

Beverly’s Angels helps by utilizing an active Amazon List, some like to donate money for tax purposes, or they have volunteers to help shop and put together packs. There’s a multitude of ways to help South Florida, not just Collier County.

There biggest need is Amazon Gift Cards due to phase 2 after Hurricane Ian. As people start to head back to their homes, families will be in need of beds. Mattresses are in high demand, but they can’t store them, so they are using Amazon to ship directly to homes in need.

Giving back to your Community at the Holidays:

Christmas is a huge time for them. They provide giant bags that also become laundry bags filled with gifts requested by each child. They provide wrapping paper and tape so the parents can wrap their own kids presents. They also add pancake mix and syrup, so they have a Christmas breakfast. They love to Sprinkle just a bit of “extra” into packages throughout the year and especially at the holidays.
